SBWL Has Passed Their Permission to Activate a Jio Telecom Tower in Gir National Park

The set up of the Reliance Jio Infocomm mobile towers in the protected areas of the Gir jungle and the other sanctuaries and national parks in Gujarat will be initiated soon.

As per the SBWL, the making of underground fiber optical cables (OFC) has also been supported.

The member of SBWL Dhanraj Nathwani shows his planning against wildlife and protected forest regions to the state government.  The proposal of underground Optical Fiber Cable and Mobile tower will go through many protected areas has been submitted. During this process, it will not affect the environmental damage like cutting the trees. The Optical Fiber connectivity in villages and in remote areas will sustain the growth and better infrastructure.

The company has a relevant plan to offer the best for the Gir National Park forest region and for other national parks. At the same time, the company will not be permitted to have any campaigns inside the park and sanctuaries.

The SBWL approval for the activation of the Jio telecom tower is being forwarded to the National Board for Wildlife (NBWL) for final approval. The proposal is for setting the tower in Gir sanctuaries acquiring final clearance individually.

Parimal Nathwani, Rajya Sabha MP and director (corporate affairs) of RIL, the parent company of Reliance Jio Infocomm, had tweeted about the planning to construct 34 telecommunications towers within the Gir sanctuary after the approval of the wildlife wing of the state forest department.

Earlier in 2020 Gujarat Forest Department itself requested the Jio to set up its network nearby and within the Protected Area of Sasan Gir. The main aim of this idea to deliver is due to maintaining the technology-based solution for wildlife management and protection, and for the provision of flawless connectivity to the ground staff of wildlife-wing, so they can also be using the better tracking reporting from the forest.

The main concern for the approval of the proposal is to provide for the needs of the wildlife wing of the Forest Department and the Jio Company has no profit-making and benefit for the same.
