The Truth About Gir Lions – Rapid Changes Could be seen in Nature of Gir Lions, are becoming more dependent on mankind

News Update – The Gir forest in Gujarat is famous for lions all over the world. Asiatic Lions are found here in large numbers. But the Wildlife Institute of India Dehradun has presented a shocking report related to the forest of Gir. According to scientists, the lion seems to be dependent on humans, leaving its natural nature. Well-known scientist of the country and senior scientist of Wildlife Institute of India, Dr. YV Jhala, says that only 20 percent of the lions that are present within the national park in the Gir forest are hunting naturally.

Senior scientist Dr. YV Jhala says that nature has made the lion such that it can sustain itself by hunting other wildlife such as chital, deer and sambar in the forest, But in the Gir forest reports, it has been found that about 70 to 80 percent of the lions in Gir are hunting the cattle or eating the flesh of dead animals. Its biggest disadvantage is that lions are forgetting their natural surroundings and are becoming vulnerable to the challenges of the forest.

Dr. Jhala says that due to lack of sufficient area in Gir forest, lions are doing so. Only 15 to 16 lions can live in the national park. Due to the lack of park space, lions are also looking for food outside the forest reserve and as a soft target they are hunting for domesticated cattle and dead animals, which is worrying somewhere and the growth of the lion are also very worrying about.

A senior scientist at the Wildlife Institute of India says that in the Corbett National Park, tigers have a large area and sufficient numbers of animals are also available for hunting. In such a situation, they hunt themselves according to their natural nature, but the opposite is happening in the forest of Gir. The increasing attraction of lions towards humans is also dangerous for lion’s survival. Because lions can be safe in the reserve forest and they don’t have much problem with wildlife smugglers. But due to dependence on humans, increasing the number of lions also seems difficult.
